Shirl Welch named Corporate Compliance Officer for Arkansas Blue Cross
Little Rock, Ark. (January 4, 2021) — Shirl Welch has been promoted to Corporate Compliance Officer for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
In this new role, Welch will be responsible for the overall corporate compliance program, evaluating and assessing risks and compliance needs. Welch also will continue to be responsible for regulatory compliance related to government business.
Welch has more than 25 years of experience in compliance. In the mid 1990s, Welch led the implementation of federally required Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rules across the company, establishing the HIPAA Privacy Office. She also built a program and team to oversee the company’s compliance with regulations related to government programs. In addition, Welch is also certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) Designation.
Welch holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and journalism from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
