Biography
Jim Adamson joined the enterprise in 1992 and is responsible for developing and supporting the coverage policy and
correct payment/coding policies of Arkansas Blue Cross and subsidiaries. He also provides second and third level claims appeal
review, and acts as a medical information resource to any medical issues that require medical resolution, including assisting
the legal, division appeals coordinator in the grievance and appeals process. A native of Little Rock, Adamson received his
bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences in Little Rock, completed his internship and a residency at UAMS, and had additional residency training at Duke
University in North Carolina. Adamson is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, practiced pulmonary and
critical care medicine for 26 years, and has more than 16 years experience in the development of coverage policy, physician
utilization profiles, and correct payment/coding policies. He serves on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association National
Council of Physician Executives, and its Medical Policy Panel, and was the Association’s representative on the American Medical
Association Current Procedural Terminology Editorial Panel for 6 years and was on the Executive Committee for 3 years.
