Connie Meeks, M.D.
Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Biography
Dr. Connie Meeks leads the Corporate Medical Division and is responsible for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medical Management, Medical Audit and Review Services, BlueAdvantage Medical Management, transplant coordination and quality and accreditation programs. Dr. Meeks joined Arkansas Blue Cross in 2000 as regional medical director in the northeast region sales and service center and was promoted to corporate medical director for Internal Affairs in 2010. During her tenure with the company, she worked closely with group employers and healthcare providers on a number of medical management and wellness-related initiatives, served on many committees related to appeals, credentialing and quality improvement and was accountable for key functions in the Corporate Medical Division. Dr. Meeks also played a leadership role in the development of the company's Collaborative Health Initiative structure and in the Partnership for a Healthy Arkansas shared services organization. Dr. Meeks earned her undergraduate degree at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Area Health Education Center in Jonesboro and was affiliated with UAMS as a chief resident, assistant professor and associate program director for 18 years as she treated patients, educated medical students and trained family practice and other residents.
