Job Summary
The SAS Administrator is responsible for providing technical support, guidance and leadership in the acquisition and use of SAS related software in support of Enterprise Business Intelligence Systems.    

Nature & Scope
This position reports to a Supervisor within Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) Systems. The SAS Administrator is responsible for deploying, maintaining, enhancing, operating and managing the test and production SAS environments.   The SAS Administrator works with user community to troubleshoot and resolve technical and performance problems.   The incumbent coordinates with internal and external teams to stay abreast of technical and business requirement and ensure that systems meet those requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements

Level 1

1. Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 24 semester hours in computer related studies (pref. degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, etc.) and prior experience in application systems programming design and analysis or administration or prior experience in application systems programming design and analysis or administration .

2. Experience developing SAS applications and/or SAS administration.

3. UNIX or Linux experience.

4. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in SAS administration.

5. Demonstrated ability to take on additional responsibilities, to be self directed and self motivated.

6. Preference will be given to candidates who have SAS Enterprise Guide experience.

7. Preference will be given to candidates who have healthcare related experience.

8. Preference will be given to candidates who have data warehousing related experience.

9. Preference will be given to candidates who have Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan experience.

10. Internal - Actively participates in Blue & You University classes and has an Individual Development Plan (IDP) and a reputation for serving a variety of customers in a positive and satisfactory manner.

External applicants - must provide documentation that shows providing excellent service to customers internally and/or externally as determined by the business environment.

Level  2

Security Requirements
This position is identified as level three (3). Segregation of Duties
Segregation of duties will be used to ensure that errors or irregularities are prevented or detected on a timely basis by employees in the normal course of business. This position must adhere to the segregation of duties guidelines in the Administrative Manual.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES OR ACCOUNTABILITIES (Essential Functions of Job)
1. Support production, development and test SAS environments.
2. Develop standards for the implementation of SAS applications.
3. Provide training to other staff members in the effective use of SAS software.
4. Conduct SAS design reviews to reconcile user needs with effective SAS utilization.
5. Ensure that SAS software adhere Enterprise Business Intelligence standards.
6 Provide status reporting for all active and scheduled projects.
7. Implement and monitor standards and procedures to ensure recoverability and availability of SAS servers.
8. Create and maintain SAS internal security.
9. Install, test, and evaluate SAS vendor software.
10. Install application software related to SAS.
11. Review applications software for performance and standards.
