Job Summary
The Marketing Communications Coordinator primarily is responsible for writing and editing to support marketing, sales and other communications pieces related to enterprise group products and services. The position is responsible for researching, information gathering, creative concepting, composition and editing content for brochures, ads, articles, news releases, Web sites, presentations and more to support group marketing. The position also serves as a senior staff writer for all communications projects, including individual marketing as needed.

Nature & Scope
The Marketing Communications Coordinator reports to the Manager of Advertising, Public Relations and Market Support, who in turn reports to the Vice President of Communications and Product Development.

The coordinator is responsible for developing content for collateral material for traditional and new products and services for small group, large group and national accounts.

The coordinator works closely with the Marketing Design Coordinator, Communications and Product Development staff, product designers, regional office staffs and internal operations staffs from product inception through product launch to ensure a thorough understanding of the products and services to be promoted.

The person in this position has primary responsibility for identifying key messages to be communicated regarding group products and services, then clearly communicating those messages to defined audiences.

The coordinator is responsible for keeping all marketing materials related to products and services up to date and accurate from an editorial perspective.

The coordinator works with the Manager to coordinate work with agency representatives and external vendors as needed for creative concepting and creating communications pieces necessary to support enterprise marketing objectives.

The coordinator serves as a senior staff writer and contributor to the organization's other publications as needed, Internet and intranet sites as needed related to the marketing of products and services, as well as other communication projects as assigned.

The incumbent will require limited and some overnight travel throughout Arkansas.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

1. The creative ability to conceive, adapt and implement effective communication.

2. Proven writing ability and experience in marketing and promotional materials.

3. Understanding of the sales and marketing process.

4. Ability to write effectively and to edit copy of all forms.

5. Advanced writing skills, including the use of proper grammar and style, interviewing and editing skills.

6. Basic working knowledge of Web site content preparation and Web language for Internet and intranet support.

7. Ability to communicate with audiences at all levels inside and outside the company. Ability to work alongside executive leadership to provide communications direction and support.

8. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

9. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with people in all areas inside and outside the company.

10. Ability to coordinate with multiple vendors and resources to accomplish communications objectives.

11. Ability to handle confidential information in the course of planning and preparing communication for internal and external use.

12. Ability to function without supervision and to initiate correspondence, reports and memos.

13. Ability to work in teams, both as a team member and as a team leader.

14. Ability to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, and produce under pressure.

15. Willingness to follow established editorial guidelines for the company.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. A bachelor's degree in communications, advertising, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field and experience in one of these fields, or in the absence of a bachelor's degree in one of these fields, experience in one of these fields.

2. Experience in the writing and implementation of communications and marketing materials and/or plans.

3. Experience in the production of publications, including writing, editing, photography, layout and design with working knowledge of printing techniques and typography.

Segregation of Duties
Segregation of duties will be used to ensure that errors or irregularities are prevented or detected on a timely basis by employees in the normal course of business. This position must adhere to the segregation of duties guidelines in the Administrative Manual.

1. Works closely with Manager and regional staff to determine local marketing collateral and sales needs and how to support them with collateral material in the mediums best suited for communication.

2. Assists in the development of communications and marketing plans as needed for new group products and services.

3. Prepares marketing materials to introduce products and services to prospects and/or existing customers.

4. Develops editorial content for educational materials for groups to inspire employee engagement.

5. Responsible for developing editorial content and creative concepting for materials to support traditional and new product and services for small group, large group and national accounts.

6. Identifies key messages to be communicated regarding new and traditional products and communicate those messages in clear terms for a variety of audiences.

7. Responsible for keeping all marketing materials related to products and services updated with current, accurate information.

8. Works with agency representatives and external vendors as needed to create communications pieces needed to support enterprise marketing goals and objectives.

9. Serves as senior staff writer and contributor to the organization's publications as it relates to products and services.

10. Serves as a contributing writer to the organization’s internal and external Web sites, as it relates to products and services.

11. Supports other division activities, as assigned.
