Hey, I'm not as young as I once was, but I can still play a mean game of touch football with my boys. Yeah, so they are just 10 and 12, but Dad can hang with them…most days. Lately, I've been a bit short of breath and I decided to quit smoking; I know it's the right thing to do, not just for me, but also for them.
My wife Marcy told me about the lifestyle management programs behind My Blueprint, on the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield Web site. They have a lot of great tools there. I signed up for the smoking cessation and stress management programs. I work in construction, so I get stressed a lot, and when I'm stressed I want to smoke. These two programs are personalized to fit in my world, not just some cookie-cutter program that looks good on paper.
I got even more help a few days after I filled out the online Health Risk Assessment. I didn't have the best results — what with smoking, my love of pepperoni and kinda being a couch potato — and it was suggested when I got my results that I might want to call a health coach. . .

Sandy, a health coach who works with Arkansas Blue Cross reviewed my Health Risk Assessment, and instead of scolding me, she asked if she could send me some information to help me stay motivated. Now that's what I call teamwork!
